    Responsibilities

    To be successful in this position, one must be an empathetic listener with strong written & verbal communication skills and driven to ensure accurate data. The main responsibility of the Payroll Specialist is to provide accurate processing of U.S. and Canadian payrolls and related reports. Duties and responsibilities include the following:

    • Process payroll and prepare reconciliations for U.S. and Canada including regular payroll, commission and bonus payrolls.
    • Prepare GL reports for Finance Department.
    • Review and audit clock in/out reports to detect payroll discrepancies.
    • Process new hire paperwork and enter employee information into the payroll system. Follow up on missing items to ensure compliance.
    • Compute wages, deductions and other compensation.
    • Review and enter garnishments and other liens on employee wages.
    • Issue and record adjustments to pay related to adjustments or retroactive increases/deductions.
    • Prepare, review and process monthly check requests to vendors as required.
    • Prepare monthly employee reports for U.S. and Canada.
    • Prepare and distribute annual time-off calendars.
    • Prepare annual payroll & holiday schedules for U.S. and Canada including regular & commission payrolls.
    • Coordinate and maintain employee time cards and attendance records.
    • Assist other department members with special events.
    • Provide applicable reporting to responsible parties as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum five years of payroll and benefits required.
    • Previous experience with Ulti Pro or related payroll software processing required.
    • Proficient MS Office skills required.
    • Knowledge of U.S. State and Federal plus Canadian federal and provincial payroll forms and regulations required.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
