    We offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to execute and maintain the policies and procedures associated with Human Resources in the areas of payroll processing, benefits administration, leave management, and records management; utilizing good judgment, discretion and professionalism, while ensuring compliance with Federal/State/Local rules and regulations.

    • Prepares, processes and submits weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees in Ultipro system, ensuring compliance with all federal/state/local regulations and company policies, in an accurate and timely fashion.
    • Maintains records for all employees in the payroll system. Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job title and department/division transfers etc.
    • Responds to employee inquiries in a timely manner regarding payroll information and trouble-shoots in an attempt to resolve employee payroll concerns.
    • Implements and maintains payroll best practices to improve efficiency.
    • Administers the time and attendance policy and paid leave policy for all employees.
    • Assists the HR Director with developing and maintaining the organization's wage and salary program.
    • Addresses benefit inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions. Maintains contact with employees and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
    • Provides support to employees during open enrollment including preparation and distribution of materials, conducting meetings to communicate changes, and answering employee questions or concerns.  
    • Conducts new employee onboarding and presents benefits presentations to ensure employee's understanding of our benefit plans and enrollment provisions.
    • Fulfills all governmental regulatory mandates and ensures filings are performed as required.
    • Informs employees of leave entitlements under federal and state law; manages disability claims according to plan, approves requests for FMLA and prepares written responses, maintains FMLA documentation and tracks time used, coordinating the use of leave time along with payroll.
    • Receives, processes and tracks employee wage garnishments.
    • Reports workers compensation cases to Travelers and assists with incident reviews. Communicates work restrictions to supervisors and identifies light duty assignments whenever possible.
    • Serves as HR representative on the company Safety Committee.
    • Establishes and maintains department records and reports; recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency and services performed.
    • Submits healthcare and other related invoices to Accounts Payable for payment.
    • Prepares statistical summaries and reports involving payroll information, demographic data and other employee data. Maintains data integrity in system by running queries and analyzing data and reviewing source documents for accuracy and completion. Generates files/reports such as the EEO1/Vets100 and other special and ad hoc reports as requested.
    • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll and benefits operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Works closely with management to communicate HR policies and ensure employee compliance.
    • Provides assistance to the Human Resources Department as needed.
    • Completes other special projects and related duties and assignments as required.



    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, accounting, administration or related field preferred.
    • Minimum five years of payroll processing and benefits experience required.
    • Experience with payroll and time/attendance software. Ultipro system experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State payroll, benefits and employment laws and regulations.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office. Intermediate Excel skills required.
    • Good mathematical and reasoning skills.
    • Demonstrated exceptional analytical skills and ability to create useful and actionable reports from data.
    • High level of skill in handling sensitive and confidential situations/information with the demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with people at all levels throughout the organization.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of office administration procedures with an ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.
    • Excellent time management and follow-through skills.
    • Strong customer service focus and great team player.
    • Ability to quickly adapt to changing organizational needs.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Physical Demands

    Ability to sit or stand for 8 hours per day, view computer monitor and move about effectively to fulfill the essential functions of the job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
