  • Overview

    We offer an excellent opportunity for a QC Technician II – Milling Ceramics responsible for performing and documenting routine material testing of products and incoming materials in the Quality Control Laboratory; assessing results for conformance to standards, and ensuring compliance to good laboratory practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete Quality Control testing on various products by generating test samples and testing per required specifications.
    • Documentation of test results and supporting test data.
    • Assess device history records for completeness and make usage decisions based on final testing and inspection results.
    • Ensure conformance to accepted quality standards.
    • Propose changes to current specifications in order to ensure up-to-date and efficient methods.
    • Ensure proper maintenance of test equipment and sample preparation equipment.
    • Calibrate equipment, including calipers, micrometers, sintering furnaces etc. as required.
    • Perform very basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and software, as needed.
    • Provide suggestions and feedback regarding improvement and increased efficiency.
    • Assist in installation, operational, and performance qualifications as necessary.
    • Assist in customer complaint investigations.
    • Maintain retains of production material.
    • Assist in troubleshooting Out of Specification results.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance as directed by Quality Systems policies and procedures.
    • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of a high school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in scientific field or related area preferred.
    • Recent graduates considered.
    • Two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and college level course work.
    • Work with a high degree of accuracy
    • Able to follow, understand, and perform basic mathematical calculations
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Knowledge of laboratory information systems helpful.
    • Good color perception and visual acuity is essential.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • A proven ability to prioritize, delegate and multitask in a dynamic laboratory environment is helpful.
    • Computer literate in Microsoft Office; Word and Excel experience

    Physical Demands

    Ability to bend, kneel and lift a minimum of 20lbs comfortably. Position could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. Ability to use a computer monitor and move about effectively to fulfill the essential functions of the job. Manual dexterity needed to operate small hydraulic presses.

     

    Equipment & Machinery Used

    Hydraulic hand press, CAD/CAM milling machines, high temperature sintering furnaces, spectrophotometers, scales and analytical balances, XRD, sample grinder/polishers, electromechanical testing systems, and other equipment/machinery as required.
