  • Overview

    We offer an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to ensure continuous manufacturing improvements via optimization of process flows, equipment design, and equipment performance, utilizing specialized industrial engineering skill sets, while working in close cooperation with QA, Process Engineering, Maintenance and R&D departments.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for conducting research and procuring new, used or transferred production equipment.
    • Evaluate engineering drawings and design specifications for determining equipment capabilities and infrastructure requirements.
    • Conduct factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, installation qualification and operational qualification on new or transferred equipment.
    • Develop, recommend and supervise the preventive maintenance and repair of specialized production equipment (new and existing).
    • Compile critical test and performance data for production equipment.  
    • Determine range and depth of repairs and types of tools needed to support production equipment.
    • Recommend specification changes to new or modified equipment to avoid anticipated operational, maintenance and repair difficulties.
    • Participate in cardboard engineering for the purposes of improving production processes.
    • Conduct training as needed for the development of personnel in the use, repair, and maintenance of equipment.
    • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and process engineering to achieve department targets and objectives.
    • Support Lean Initiatives:
      • Maintain active involvement in continuous improvement activities by participating in Shop Floor Management meetings.
      • Analyze manufacturing cost of products and assist to reduce negative discrepancies; plan for strategies to reduce waste and labor cost in all engineering projects.
    • Responsible for undertaking process improvement and development projects and other activities listed below in the assigned areas of responsibility in collaboration with Process Engineering Department and Production Managers:
      • Deviation and change management
      • Troubleshooting of production problems, implementation of preventive and corrective actions
      • Process improvement: cost reduction, increasing productivity including automation
    • Investigate operational problems affecting production and dealing with them in a systematic, methodical manner in close cooperation with QA, Process Engineering and R&D.
    • Responsible for overseeing activities related to implementing new processes and transfer of new products to production in close cooperation with QA, Process Engineering and R&D.
    • Conduct pilot scale experiments and tests needed to develop and/or improve production processes.
    • Develop specifications and test methods for new and existing production processes.
    • Delegate sample preparation as necessary for testing to Production, R&D and QA staff.
    • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree with equivalent training, in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Environment
    • Knowledge of mechanical principles, construction, operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment.
    • Proficiency of CAD system software
    • Proficiency of Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Proven leadership skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
    • Excellent organization skills with ability to handle multiple tasks utilizing project management tools and resources.
    • Ability to effectively present data and research findings in a group setting.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction, supervision and a hands-on approach.
    • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
    • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and time manage workload.
    • Ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
    • Ability to use relevant ERP software…..knowledge of SAP is a plus.
    • Ability to provide technical advice and solutions concerning manufacturing equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical publications.
    • Ability to maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics and practices when dealing with both internal and external customers, suppliers, colleagues, subordinates, and supervisors.
    • Ability to resolve diverse problems, to understand the importance of structure, organization, resource management and to complete critical tasks in a timely manner.
    • Ability to ensure compliance to applicable laws, guidelines, policies, procedures and practices.
    • Ability to work effectively as a member of the team in a fair, supportive and cooperative manner.
    • Ability to read, write and speak English.

    Physical Demands

    Ability to lift 25 pounds comfortably. Position could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. Position could involve the use of ladders to access equipment.

     

    Equipment & Machinery Used

    In-depth knowledge and proficient, safe and effective operation of various manufacturing, material movement, and/or packaging equipment will be required.
