    Consider an excellent opportunity!  The Senior Research Associate supports new product development in Research & Development projects as well as contributes to other Research


    • Responsible for supporting product improvement and product development projects for dental ceramics with or without direction from Sr. Manager of R&D or Director of Products.
    • Keep up-do-date on new ceramic materials development in dental industry and other relevant competitive activity
    • Initiate, plan, execute, monitor and close research projects under direction of Sr. Manager of R&D and Director of Products.
    • Respect and enforce project timelines and meet deadlines for the assigned projects.
    • Oversee other day-to-day project activities including: providing direction to Lab Technician(s) and/or carry out experiments and tests needed to develop or improve processes and products directly and delegating and monitoring assignments for routine work such as standard sample preparation and reporting
    • Develop, write and issue specifications and test methods for new and existing products.
    • Investigate new processes and raw materials.
    • Assist in the development and testing of standards.
    • Hands-on experimentation, non-routine sample preparation and setting up of experiments.
    • Support activities related to implementing the newly developed processes and transfer of new products to Production in close cooperation with relevant departments.
    • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
    • Implement and comply with all policies and procedures identified in the Employee Handbook
    • Manage, coach and mentor department employees and conduct regular performance reviews


    • M.S. in Ceramic Engineering or Materials Science, Ph.D. preferred.
    • Lab experiences leading entire or portion of research projects
    • Ability to maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, colleagues, subordinates and supervisors.
    • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated abilities to resolve diverse problems, to understand the importance of structure, organization, resource management and to complete critical tasks in a timely manner.
    • Ability to ensure compliance to applicable laws, guidelines, policies, procedures and practices.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, with the ability to work with people from all levels of the company and from different international or domestic facilities within the company.
    • Ability to travel on a limited basis (domestic and international).
    • In-depth understanding of processing-structure-properties relations pertaining to dental ceramic products within a scope of the assigned projects.
    • Practical knowledge of processing and applications of zirconia ceramics.
    • Good grasp of fundamental principles and scientific equipment savvy.
    • Strong project management experience required.
    • Knowledge of MS Office required.
    • Strong organizational and written verbal communication skills.
    • Fluent English required, German would be of benefit.
    • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.
    • Ability to use a computer workstation, sometimes for extended periods. 
    • Occasionally required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time in a manufacturing environment. 
    • May be required to climb stairs, bend, kneel and lift items to perform functions of the job. 
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds comfortably. 
    • Mechanical dexterity and ability to operate, hand tools, power tools, and large pieces of equipment. 
    • Frequently communicates with employees of all levels as well as outside vendors. Must be able to accurately exchange information in these situations.
